What a chuffing start to the old English Football League. The Championship and League 2 are rattling along at about three goals a game (League 1 is currently refusing to join the new world, but there’s time) and all three leagues look very competitive both at the top and the bottom.

From a season-long betting perspective we’re starting to get close to sweet-spot zone. That’s the period between September and November when I think you can make hay on these markets, where pictures start becoming clearer to those of us really paying attention, and often can catch bookies napping, a week or two behind with what’s happening.

Today, across two separate bets, I’m going heavy with two teams who are quite clearly better than pre-season markets believed, and about whom bookies either haven’t quite caught up, or perhaps think it’s a fluke when it probably isn’t.

I’ll add a third team into one of those bets for good measure.
